3 day millinery introduction

This course provides a good foundation in millinery techniques. Students will learn about materials, sizing, millinery stitches and how to block, wire, edge and trim hats in materials such as felt, straw and sinamay.

Students can either block a simple hat from felt or straw or make a hat from buckram and cover with fabric. At the end of this course students will produce one simple hat.

A basic level of sewing is required for this course and students should expect to continue at home in order to be ready for the next day.

Possible hats include cocktail hats, trilbies, cloches, pill boxes, bonnets, period styles.
